Part 4: Health Update & Accountability

The Holidays Got the Best of Me

Good Lord I could use some help in the accountability department. For those who know me, self-control has never been my strong suit. I'm a firm believer of the "you only live once" mentality, so whether it means staying late and having that extra drink at a party or housing all of the Christmas cookies, cakes and pies... "no" is not often in my vocabulary and my joints have now revolted because of it.

Some days I can't even fit my wedding/engagement rings on my finger, the knuckle is so swollen. And it's -11 outside right now! It's winter which means there's no heat and humidity to cause my fingers to swell up. Usually my rings are practically sliding off but this year my joints have decided that the bling stays off. **Sad face**

I had about two and a half solid weeks after Thanksgiving of eating primarily gluten free and packing my diet full of those great-for-you foods that I mentioned in week 2. I was exercising every weekday and I felt like a million bucks. I had energy and my joints seemed to be improving.

Then came the Christmas cookies and all sorts of other yummy desserts. And our annual holiday beer tasting. And pizza.  And God knows what other gluten-filled and over-processed deliciousness I was stuffing my face with for a solid 10 days or so over Christmas-time. The hubs got debilitatingly sick for a few days, and everyone else around us seemed to be dropping like flies. I didn't feel great either (likely more so because of my eating habits than because of any serious illness) so it was an easy excuse to bail on work-outs. Skipping one day, quickly became two, then three and so on... because, again, I could use some help in the accountability department. #NoRegrets though.

New Year New(ish) Me

Click on the link to join our FREE accountability group where we'll share all sorts of health-focused goodness and celebrate wins and epic fails- like me sleeping until noon today and planning on not working out, and housing a non-GF buttermilk pie for dessert after a salt-laden prime rib... I had a healthy smoothie for breakfast (well lunch...) though so that's a decent start. Tomorrow is back to the grind!

Throughout each week you'll find:
